Doug Keeler
He joined USDA as the Associate Deputy Administrator (ADA) for Poultry Programs, has been the ADA for Livestock Poultry and Seed and was also the ADA for the Science & Technology Program in the Agricultural Marketing Service.
Prior to coming to USDA, Mr. Keeler completed 24 years as a Marine Corps Officer where he served as a Commanding Officer during Operations Desert Storm and Desert Saber. He also led a humanitarian operation in Bangladesh during Operation Sea Angel, created the Marine Corps Mortuary Affairs School and the Marine Corps Logistics Education Program, and a graduate program at Penn State while serving as the career manager for senior logistics personnel. Upon his retirement from the Marine Corps, he was a Program Manager for Naval shipbuilding requirements and later returned to government service as the Marine Corps’ Deputy for Life Cycle Management where he became the Chairman of the Total Life Cycle Management Corporate Board. During Doug’s tenure as the Chairman, he was renowned for saving the Marine Corps three times the amount of his budget for three consecutive years. He was also the Marine Corps’ first Key Acquisition Leader representing Acquisition policy to the Under Secretary.
Mr. Keeler has a Master’s degree in Project Management, is a Project Management Professional, a Lean Six-Sigma Green Belt and received his Logistics Professional Certificate from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
